CodeGreen's Energy Forensics™ services help building owners to improve energy efficiency, lower operating costs, and reduce their building's carbon footprint.

CodeGreen offers the following energy services:

ENERGY AUDITS

ASHRAE Level 1 Energy Audit

A prerequisite for LEED-EB 2009 Certification, the ASHRAE Level 1 Energy Audit  includes a visual inspection of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems, along with building operating personnel interviews to gain an understanding of the operating and maintenance procedures of the building.  An evaluation of non-energy-related capital investments that may improve the energy infrastructure of the facility is also performed.  A final report is generated identifying low- to no-cost measures with associated cost analysis, in-field implementation documentation, and potential capital improvements with simple payback calculations.

ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audit

The ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audit includes a more-detailed building survey than the Level 1, and expands on the walk-through analysis by conducting in-field measurements.  An energy savings and cost analysis are performed, and the final report consists of a detailed cost analysis for both the low- and no-cost measure list, as well as the capital improvements.  The report also indicates the measurement and verification (M&V) required for each capital improvement.


ASHRAE Level 3 Energy Audit

With an ASHRAE Level 3 Energy Audit, all of the collected building data and research is correlated and analyzed to establish the usage profiles and life cycle conditions of systems, sub systems, and equipment.  In order to determine the return on investment (ROI) or each modification option, a dynamic whole-building energy simulation model of the existing systems and the proposed capital improvements is completed.

 

 

RETRO-COMMISSIONING

Retro-commissioning is a systematic investigation process for improving the performance of an existing building’s mechanical systems by identifying and implementing operational and maintenance improvements.  Improvements are intended to ensure that the building is operating optimally for its current occupancy and usage.  The use profiles of most existing buildings have changed since the buildings were built, and as a result, most mechanical equipment that serves the buildings must be tuned to accommodate these changes.

The primary focus of CodeGreen’s Retro-commissioning effort is to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy and demand costs, bring equipment to its original operational state, improve indoor environmental quality, and to put in place proper operation and maintenance procedures to maintain optimal performance.
