Local Law 88: Lighting Upgrades and Sub-metering

- Local Law 88 requires building owners to upgrade all building lighting systems in common areas and tenant spaces to the current code by January 1, 2025.
- Sub-meters must be installed to measure the electricity use of every commercial tenant over 10,000sf or per floor, whichever is smaller.  Smaller tenants may share a sub-meter on a floor.  And electrical consumption statements must be issued monthly to each tenant by January 1, 2025.

The CodeGreen Approach

CodeGreen’s team of Registered Architects (RAs), Professional Engineers (PEs), and Certified Energy Managers (CEMs) work with building owners to identify compliant lighting and specify and install new and/or retro-fitted lighting that meets the requirements of LL88.  CodeGreen also will ensure that sub-meters comply with the requirements of Local Law 88. Our proprietary software ProActTM, provides a tracking tool to document lighting upgrades and the effect on a building’s ENERGY STAR SCORE.
