Dec 9, 2009, NYC passes “Greener, Greater Buildings Plan” to improve energy efficiency in NYC's existing buildings.

For buildings over 50,000sf the law will require:

   - Energy audits

   - Lighting upgrades and submetering

   - Annual energy and water use benchmarks

   - Compliance with new NYC Energy Code
